Default Brasscratcher-Scrim on Brass

Here are a few examples of work done on enameled brass plates.

Welcome Brasscratcher, Looks very nice. How did you do it? Is similar to a scratch board and it starts out black and you scratch through it to create the light color lines?

Exactly like scatchboard, only brass. I buy the brass plates from a Company entitled ID Plates Inc. They provide materials for trophy shops, keychain makers. A computerized laser engraver can be used to accomplish the work. A few years ago I searched the internet for anyone else that does the same kind of work I do, without any success.

Thanks for your comment!

Very nice work something you do not see everyday for sure.

HMMMMM I bet I could use my rotary tool and get some sweet results with that black brass scratchboard style. I am going to have to look into that.

When I was a kid on the farm I used to do something like this. We had pine tar and we used it for many things, we thined it out with gas to what ever thickness we wanted. I would take it and spread it in thin layers on some scrap sheet metal up to 4 layers then with my sharp nail that I used to do everything including my first engraving, I would scratch out pictures of the horses on the sheet metal. It would take alot of time but I love to make things come alive in my drawings.

Regards,
Debbie
