Steve Hoel's Barry Lee Hands engraved Gilded Pearl coke Bottle from AKI 2009
AKI 2009 catalog description:
Steve Hoel The Classic Coke Bottle Model Featuring the all new “Gilded Pearl Technique” using 24k Gold inlaid into the exhibition grade white pearl by Master Engraver Barry Lee Hands. Barry is the inventor of this new method and this is the first folding knife ever engraved with this technique, as well as the first collaboration by Steve and Barry. The abundant ornamentation of the 24k Gold inlaid engraving complements Steve’s timeless design and features Arabesque leaves with slender stems originating in the frame of 416 stainless, flowing gently forward from the rear bolster through the pearl with pure gold leaves, and back into the stainless, culminating in a dramatic flourish of 24k Gold leaves at the front bolster, all surrounded by a generous 24k border. The blade of ATS 34 has been precisely heat treated to 60 Rockwell.

Hi Chris, that's the catalog description, written by myself for Mr Hoel, The Knifemakers name comes first. thanks for the affirmation. I am going to add "AKI 2009 Catalog description", as it is a little vague.

That is a nice description for a perfect knife Barry
 Is your name somewhere on it too? It couldnt be devaluating the knife but adding to it. I stopped trying to figure out how you do those fabulous inlays in mother of pearl. They are really perfect. Thanks for showing again.

Barry, what a wonderful piece of encouragement for others to appreciate along with the fine talent of Steve Hoel. What I mean is the ability to find new innovative ways. Have you studied pique work done in tortoise shell? I have searched for information on the technique but thus far to no avail. Your gilded technique strikes me of that type of work but you've taken it to another level.
