Little Panther knife
Here is a little knife I finished, a couple weeks ago. It was pretty small, about 3 1/4 inches. but we still got quite a bit of stuff on there. Originally I sketched it up to have an arabesque scroll ornament, but the customer wanted more of a jungle feel, so I drew realistic vegetation that ended up bordering upon ornamental anyway. Also I used some 18k green gold which is more a pale yellow for the panthers eyes and on the parrot, nothing green on monkeys so he was left out, I almost put him holding a green banana, but as small as it was I did not think it would be noticed or even recognizable with the naked eye, so I opted to leave it out. Hope you like it, feel free to pick it apart, there are always things that could be improved. -Brian

Very cool Brian… This is a nice one! I like the monkey hanging on to the scroll vine. J
I notice this is a Rick Genovese made knife. Is this a new piece by Rick? He called maybe six months ago and talked about getting back into knife making again. I hadn’t heard from him for a long time. In the mid '80s we did a few engraved pieces together. He was producing quality knives in the category with Hoel, Herman and Busfield. I hope this is a new knife and he is back to making knives again. Steve

WOW that is beatiful, I am new to this site and want to start engraving but I will never be that good. The feathers have so much detail, everything does.
Great Job, I'll keep dreaming. oh how long does it take to do a knife like that? jim

Steve, I think this knife has been in the owners collection for some time. He just never had anything done until now. Your right though, it would be nice to see some new knives from Rick. The folding dagger that you engraved of his with the girl and sheep is one of my favorites.
