Default Treasured Chest Knife (partial nude)

Here is a fun knife I finished a few weeks ago. It was actually a difficult knife to design on, due to the handle inlays,as well as the overall shape of the knife, being unusual. But, once we decided to use the treasure map to fill in the odd areas in the center, it all fell into place. Also been playing around with photoshop, but I need to get a better lighting system for taking my pics though, just have not had the time lately to attend to that. Anyway, thanks for having a look. -Brian

Beautiful work Brian. Great use of different colored gold.

I was wondering ... that map wouldn't happen to lead to a gentelman's club in St. Martin? If I remember right, those gold coins in the treasure chest were filled with milk chocolate and Amstel was just over a buck.

That's certainly a nice touch with the scope ... great symbolism.

Chris

Beautiful, quick question, what is the red material in the knife scales?

Actually I think that her treasured chest has been well and truely exposed.

What about the colors in the treasure chest? Can't seem to figure it out. Awesome knife, cute girl.

Jeff, the colors in the treasure chest are green and pink gold, as is the palm leaves, knife handle and the broach/choker.

Thanks all for the good reviews, -Brian

Hi Brian,
That is pretty green and pink for gold.
Could you tell where you get it or what the ingredients are to alloy this gold?

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel, there is nothing special with the colored gold it is 14k green, 18k pink, it is just how the camera picked up the color. I asked Phil Coggan the same thing a while back, but as in this case it was just the photo and the lighting. On the pic posted below where I used larger areas of pink gold some of it looks bold and other areas, not so much. -Brian

hi Brian .. just fantastic work as always ,, how hard was it inlaying the colored gold ,, i was told it is very hard to inlay , i am used to working with 24k .. so i don't know how hard the colored golds are to inlay .. also how did you keep the knife from locking up after your where finished pounding the gold inlays in .. thanks ron p

Ron, the colored golds are harder to work with, they are less malable and work harden, so the piece of gold to be inlayed has to fit the channel tightly, so you reduce the amount of pounding, it takes to get it set. If I am worried about tightening the action on a knife I will take a block of micarta, shave it down to were it fits very snug, and then slide it in right behind the blade pivot.

Mark, emailed me this link to the knife, he did some real macro shots of it. You can see how all the dots and detail is done. The most magnified pics are at the bottom of the page.
