Default First attempt on buck knife !

I met up with an old friend of mine in his cabin at canim lake at south cariboo, British Columbia, for some trout fishing. Brought with me a couple of gravers and did this buck knife as a gift for my friend while we where there.
Wish i had had a little more time to do a bit more engraving on the knife.

Very nice! Your artistic abilities are obvious judging by this knife.

Wauw,
That salmon looks better than the smoked one we had for lunch today!
All with the push graver? Very nice!

I believe it's Marcus Hunt who advises to never do lower quality work, just lesser quanties of it when time and/or budgets constrain you.

Looks to me like you did a great job! Maybe not as much of one as you'd of liked to but quality work nonetheless!

Thanks for the replyes.
Yes this buck knife was done without any high tech modern equipment,
which is actually great for practice and feel. Though i do wish to try some
of the modern equipment, but do not have the cash right now.

I have found myself using a bit of time on sharpening gravers the old fashion
way. I just resently took up engraving again after beeing away for quite
some years. Like to check out one of the new sharpening gigs instead of
freehand sharpening, though great for understanding what exactly is going
on when sharpening gravers. I believe that everyone have there preferences
and using allready set angles on gigs might not suit the individual. Then again, slightly modify with height to sharpening stone when sharpening should do the trick.
