First engraved firearm
It's been a long time coming but after purchasing my Lindsay equipment I've been cutting my teeth on my bicycle and motorcycle stuff. Having Mike Dubber mentor me a bit and finally used this Ruger for a practice piece

Re: First engraved firearm
I've wanted to get back into engraving since the eighties. This Ruger is my first since I did a few back then. It was a great practice piece.

Re: First engraved firearm
Nicely done. Is there a reason that you didn't engrave the cylinder or is it a work in progress?

Re: First engraved firearm
The revolver is the owner's carry gun, he wanted it clean.

Re: First engraved firearm
I always wondered how the cast stainless of Ruger guns engraves? How do tools hold up that sort of thing.

Re: First engraved firearm
Since I do not have a lot of experience engraving firearms I'm not sure if any of the difficulties engraving I had were me or the metal but I spent a ton of time resharpening broken tool tips, I went through a ton of bead punches too. I learned a lot about what not to do as much as what to do. Hind sight the metal engraved ok, different than the Smith & Wesson stainless I remember cutting.

Re: First engraved firearm
Awesome Job! Would you be interested in doing a dime sized engraving on a pocket knife?

Re: First engraved firearm
I could certainly take a look at it. Describe your project, who is this for, what are the materials, expectations??
