Phil Coggan bulino template
Phil has helped with a new sharpening template. It is for the bulino point he uses. A batch of them has been made and they are ready to be shipped. The template is $20. Shipping is $3 within the U.S. There is a paypal link just for it there on the sharpening page.

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
What is the difference between this template and your 'old' 70 degree bulino?

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
I suppose
You have just 3 angles you don't have a heel and the angle of point is perhaps approximatively 80°

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
The V angle is 90 degrees. There are four facets to it. The fourth one is down low. Phil is that one just giving a little more clearance on the bottom?

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
The tip is as small as you can get it (within reason)for really fine work, about 0.25mm/0.3mm. Across the face.
The bottom facet is not important, it's just for clearance. Phil |

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
Got mine on order!
I've been meaning to make up a similar graver thanks to a tip I got on doing bulino work, so having an idiot-proof (well, nearly) way to do it will make life easier. |

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
Looks very good. It is similar to the tools I saw used for Bulino in Italy by engravers such as Fracassi, Torcoli, and Pedersoli.
Thanks Phil, I think I will have to order one.

Are you use this kind of graver for macro lines or dots? Austin |

Re: Phil Coggan bulino template
Austin,
I use this for all gamescene lines and dots, my recent thread 'Lions' shows the work this tool can produce, I also use it on scroll shading and some scrollwork but with a bigger tip. Phil |
