Smile S&W Model 60...Engraved/Inlaid with Ivory and Gold

This Model 60 was custom engraved and its side plate inlaid with a bighorn sheep made of ivory and gold. The engraving and inlay was done by Dominqos Joachim in 1981. Although "DJ" only worked at S&W for a few years, he was considered by many to be one of the most talented engravers hired by S&W. I purchased this gun last year and it is the only one I have ever seen that has an ivory and gold inlay.

The nude engraved on the frame in front of the cylinder became DJ's engraver's mark and is found on most, if not all of his works.

Thanks again for posting more of your collection. A most unique and effective use of ivory. I would love to see a close up of the nude-scroll design and the front sight.

Thanks,

Roger

That is about the most unique signature I have ever seen in any media.
I like Rogers idea to see close up of front sight and also the signature scroll.
The ivory inlay looks like it is raised, and not flush. Is that so? Quite a challenge to inlay something that soft into hard steel.
Thanks,
Gail

Wow, that is beautiful and very inspiring! I would also like to see a picture of the sight.

Gail...the sheep is in high relief and is unique. I normally collect large frame S&Ws, but when this one came along, the ivory and gold inlay "made" me add it to my collection. I will post additional pictures.

Picture of frame showing "nude" and the treatment of the front sight.

Bill,

Thanks for the close up shot. You have a very unique revolver.
