Default Two new bright cut silver buckles.

Here are a couple of buckles that I recently finished for a saddle that I am building. The roller buckle is brass with sterling overlay. I've included 2 shots of a bit of my leather tooling also. I've been having a great time playing the leather tooling and engraving off of each other. Engraving has affected my leather work in ways that I wouldn't have expected.

Wauw, that is some great work!
How do you get those designs into leather?
Do you wet it and stamp? or do you cut away bits and pieces?

Thank you very much. I've been working hard on my engraving over the past year. I've cut a lot of copper, and all the silver I can get a chance to. The leather is worked in a dampened state referred to as casing. When properly cased the design is incised into the leather with a swivel knife. The knife is barrel shaped with the blade on one end and a finger yoke on the other so it will swivel as you cut. No material is removed. Then you chase all of the lines very much like repouse'. Other tools are used to stamp in shading etc, and finally more 'finish' cuts are made with the swivel knife.

The buckles are exceptionally nice as is the leatherwork on the saddle.
