Lettering on 1878 watch movement
All hand engraved lettering on pocket watch movement, about 1 3/4" diameter. A nice movement, but does not really have much collector value.
Serial number dates it to 1878. The plate is nickel. I really like this roman font, and numbers, and am going to try to learn to do it. For some reason it really looks classy to me. And has a nice vintage look. Old watches often have great hand engraving, on the movements, and on the cases. Seeing them is how I got interested in doing engraving myself. |

That's really a nice one, I know exactly what you mean!
Engravers on these kind of movements managed quite often to have a really classy look to it, no matter if roman or english or other script types. Have fun with it! |
