A little bit of watch engraving!
Hi folks,
I admit, I occassionally lack the discipline to not show engraved watches before they are reassembled. Whilst that statement still holds true, I now have some photos of the completed work, so thought I'd share. Firstly, an Audemars Piguet. Lovely canvas to work on! A Patek Philippe Cartier Santos. I've shown this one previously, but now it's assembled. Again, another I've showed before, although it's now had a special black coating applied. The blacking looks a lot better in real life. Thanks for looking, Jo (still lovin' the job) |

Re: A little bit of watch engraving!
I must say I truly enjoy your work. The design and your work give the watches a very Regal appeal. Do get to create the design concept or must you use a pre-determined "house design" on these types of commissions?

Re: A little bit of watch engraving!
I love well engraved watched in fact the engraved Margrette watches are what inspired me to learn int he first place.http://www.magrette.com/photographs-moko.php#
I want to ask, do you professional engravers carry liability insurance? The idea of engraving, or rather stuffing up a $20,000 watch makes me sick. Is it pure confidence based on years of experience, or some other element that gives one the courage to tackle such a risky job. A bit like engraving a priceless firearm I guess. Tony |

Donny, I work-up the designs for each watch myself. Occassionally the client will want specific things added, or they'll just give me a very rough idea of what they'd like. This can be tricky sometimes, as they often don't appreciate what can and can't be fitted onto such a small canvas. Quote:
Regarding insurance, if you're going to be working on private commissions, then liability insurance would be a sensible idea! Jo |
