Default Fundamental Engraving Cuts

Are there stand-alone examples of each of the fundamental or standard cuts used in engraving somewhere in the forum?

In Tim Well's "A concise study in fine line shading" thread Joseph mentions curves, double and reverse curves and partial spirals.

While I can see what I believe to be the cuts Joseph is referring to in the examples shown, it isn't very clear which end each cut started from? It would be very helpful for me to see examples of the individual fundamental cuts.

Also, are there general guidelines about which direction to make the cuts?

Thanks ahead of time for any help anyone can give me on this!

Generally it is easier to cut lines from shallow/narrow to deep/wide but it is sometimes nessary and easier to cut the other way around.
