Steve makes it to the Discovery Channel...kinda
I was watching the Discovery Channel recently and saw a show called "How It's Made". The episode I watched was on "how flutes are made". As it turns out it was filmed at the Brannen Bros. Flute company. At the time the video was made Steve was doing all their engraving. You can see Steve's handiwork during the close up shots of the finished flutes. There is a copy of the show up on YouTube . So, if anyone cares to see it, here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHSu0trGkRg

Re: Steve makes it to the Discovery Channel...kinda
Here is a recent head line in the NewsPaper about Andy Shinosky's work.
Andy is a knife maker, engraver and now also Brannen Brothers flute engraver. If anyone has followed Andy's work, you know he has a fantastic eye for art, metal working and engraving. He won the Judge Award at the 2006 Chicago knife show. I can say that watching Andy has inspired me to want to get back and engrave a few knives again. To support my habits of designing and prototyping and then the manufacturing of the airgravers I have been engraving flutes for Brannen Brothers. I started engraving for them in 1994. I was engaving around 33 flutes a month for 12 years (around 4752 flutes in all). My wife and I purchased flute serial number 3333 that is pictured on my website. Last fall Andy's knife making and engraving inspried me to pass the flutes on, so that I can have time to make and engrave just a couple knives each year. Andy and Tim Adlam are now the engravers for Brannen Brothers. Thank you Andy and Tim! The video in the menu at the top of the forum is of the logo/text engraving of a rose gold flute barrel. Steve |
