Default Ron Jr. Scrimshaw

Completed this little nude on a sterling silver Tasaki a while back, thought you might enjoy.

Tip for any artist doing hair on a small scale (learned the hard way)
In the close up pics you'll notice the hair strands are very thick and out of proportion. When you look at the work with the naked eye it looks just right though (see pic showing the whole knife). If you try and make the hair in proper proportion on such a small scale you cannot see it with the naked eye thus it's like there's no hair there at all.

Lovely as usual Ron - the work and the subject.

I see what you mean on the hair - at that scale you can't do the hair itself, you have to show the strands and tresses it lays in.

Beautiful work, Ron. Someday I hope to see something of yours in person! Hair can be hard for me... hopefully I'm getting the hang of it at an elementary level atleast...

Once again... beautiful!

Ron,

I have long admired your work and I just received a piece that I bought from you today. It really is beautiful and I will always treasure it.

I'm trying my hand at a little yellow jacket on ivory. I'm pleased with how it is turning out.t I'll post a picture when I get it finished.

I would love to call you sometime just to pick your brain. You could send your phone number to my e-mail at tlittle@pdr-usa.net.

Thanks

Tom
