Hi All,

I recently acquired a tungsten piston from Steve L.
I am amazed at the cutting and hammering that piston can do.
One has to have it, and use it, to experience it.I fully recommend it without any hesitation.

Hi Mrthe,

You are welcome.The tungsten piston is 3.5 times heavier than the stainless steel piston.
So you get a bigger hammering action.

The difference is like driving a standard production car, and driving the same car, as a rally prepared car !

Unless you are working on things much bigger than guns, the tungston piston will cut anything with ease. For automotive and motorcycle parts the Nitro G20 might be worth a try.

What you advise is right,I used the tungsten piston in the artisan hand piece.
It has become a very effective tool for bigger bike parts.It is also good for harder metals.
Very effective.

Though having the nitro G20 would be ideal,at the moment I reckon this was an easier way out too,as I only recently started to work with bigger parts and hard metals .
I would like to see how it works out first.

Hi Jerry,

I believe the stainless steel handle fits the classic only,does it fit an artisan ?
If it does I will get it.Please let me know.

Yes and no.

The SS handle is made to fit the Palm Control but if you take a rubber stopper (I can't remember if a #4 or #5 worked best), trim it to fit the recess in the handle, and then drill a hole into but not through the stopper it works great on the Classic. The same thing should work for the Artisian.

I drilled the hole (1/2" diameter) leaving about 1/8" of solid rubber to seal the top of the open piston. It fits very tightly on the tool (which is what you want) and then snugs nicely into the SS handle so it holds well. Technically all you need is something to plug the open end of the cylinder - you can hold your thumb over it and the tool will work. Everything else really just makes it easier to hold, although as mentioned the extra mass of the SS handle seems to give about 10 - 15 percent more power.

The fact it gives some increase in power is an added advantage definitively and worth trying.

I was thinking if I got a new santoprene handle and the s/steel handle,and trim the outside diameter of the santoprene handle to fit tight inside the s/steel handle,would that work ?

Yes, but it would cost a lot more than a simple rubber stopper from any place nearby that sells chemistry equipment.
