That's a beautiful job you did on John's hammer. I recently added one to his collection myself. I was pushing to get it done before I left to visit John and didn't get good pictures of it.

For those of you asking about how to get such a hammer head, John has them custom made by a machinist. Over the years several different people have made them so there are slightly different variations in the collection.

You might say that the hammer collection is a sort of an invitational thing. John asks engravers around the world to do their work for him. His earliest pieces go back about 50 years and include work by some of the best known gun engravers of the 20th century.

Thanks for the info....No threat of an invitation coming any time soon But I do like the aesthetics of those hammer heads versus the garbage on eBay. I would like to find a couple quality hammers.

Thanks, for the complements, I really enjoyed doing this project, and was quite pleased with the outcome. I would someday like to see the complete collection myself. I have only seen a few pictures, and would have to say, It must be quite a collection.

I was at John's house over the weekend and got to see several of the new entries into the collections. Joe S, yours looked great, Roger's looked great, Weldon Lister and Tira Mitchell also had some great looking hammers. While I was there, Martin Strolz emailed pictures of a hammer he is doing and all I can say about it is WOW.

Plans are under way to get 360 degree photographs of them that will allow an interactive web viewing of each hammer. Anybody with advice or expereince in this arena please let me know.

I know this is an old thread. The subject is very interesting, and I was wondering if any progress has been made in doing the 360 degree photographs.
