Re: A few Kershaw knives I've engraved
Hi Jim, love the contrast and the scroll work, what is the handle material? How was it to cut?

Re: A few Kershaw knives I've engraved
Thank you Baysider.
They are new, out of the box, anodized aluminum scales right from Kershaw. They are great little knives, many different colors available. I use mostly carbide sharpened with the universal template and a small edge. Too wide and the anodized layer chips out. I built an engraver based off an old dental tool. Similar to the principal of a pneumatic power hammer. Larger diameter piston alternating push/pull on small handpiece piston. Works okay, but not adjustable. Saving up for a Classic. |

Re: A few Kershaw knives I've engraved
I appreciate the info, always looking for new stuff. I started with hammer and chisel, then started looking for cheap power engraver similar to yours and tried a rig from Woodcraft for a short time until I saved up or an Artisan w/foot con. loved it great tool. Finally saved enough for the upgrade and just ordered Classic Palm Control from Steve last week, can hardly wait or it to arrive, I'm like a kid on Christmas eve.

Re: A few Kershaw knives I've engraved
I was going to go for an Artisan, but now thinking ill save up for the classic.
Puts me out far a couple more months, but everyone says its worth the upgrade. I've been using foot controls on grinders, files etc for decades in mold work, probably stay with the foot for a while. |
