Re: First steps in the engraving
Hi TE,
This is beautiful work you have done here in your ' first steps ' my compliments to you. I know of quite a few folks who started out with the artisan airgraver. It is as good a tool as you can use it ,if I may say that. Welcome to The Engraving Forum. SE

Re: First steps in the engraving
Hi TE,
Nice scrim work there.I also see the little scrim tool you have made from a sewing machine needle to fit the artisan. It would need lots of practise to use it.I prefer a hand held scrim tool I bought on ebay. It is - eBay item number:261271019935 SE

Could you provide some insight into the last knife's blade. Your work is fantastic. Marvelous accomplishments with Damascus, your scrim and engraving. Beautiful work. Just outstanding. Thanks Fred

Re: First steps in the engraving
The engraving and the knife looks great. I have a suggestion for your photography. I use a piece of felt (light grey or blue, a neutral color. Photograph outside in the shade (if sunny) or a cloudy bright day. I have found that the detail is a lot better and a lot less reflection.Take a few hours and experiment with your digital camera, you may surprise yourself with the results_JR

Looks great. Might I suggest making a new thread for each new project as some people will think this is an old thread and won't see the new work posted.

Re: First steps in the engraving
Another nice one! What gauge or size of wire did you use in the wood box? Is there an inlay in the letters centered in the knife. On my screen I was not able to see if that was a reflection or an inlay.

Re: First steps in the engraving
Thanks Kirk,
The size of the wire is 0.02 x 0.04 inches. In the letters is not an inlay. Maybe this is a reflection. |
