Default A bit of razzal dazzal...

This is my first posting with anything besides a question. I have finally come up with enough stuff to produce something tangible. This is just a practice piece with a few different techniques used on it. A few that I learned here, a few that I just made up, and some that just happened. Most of it is original with exception of the D monogram, which I found in an old advertising book, and worked around. The varied background is something that I intend on elaborating on in the future, to maybe give my work its signature. This is about my 6th practice piece. Thanks for viewing, bronzeo

The gravelly look is from loosening up the pattern of the air graver in areas. It started looking like a jigsaw puzzle, and then by tightening up a bit "beach gravel". Unfortunately I was quite far along with the piece before I started noticing the effects. Doing a symetric look is time consuming and boring for me. I was happy to find this effect early in my engraving career. I feel I can couple it with some acid etching for some cule effects. I certainly see some areas that I can improve, and getting a better feel of the equipment should fix a bit of that.

Very handsome piece. I like the back round (texture) effect.
