Lindsay palmcontrol or Grs Gravermach AT and why?
Hello all,
I'm interested in learning how to engrave and I've read everything I could on line and I even purchased the art of engraving book. I've read a lot of great reviews on the classic palmcontrol and that was my first choice but recently I had a well known engraverand instructor and his recommendation was to go with the gravermach at because he said that it would do more with better control and more features. So I wanted to hear from anyone that's used both units and what they like and dislike about either one. The budget is not really an issue since I've been saving up for awhile. The gravermach at seems cheaper but when you add all the hand pieces they recommend it actually cost more than the classic palmcontrol. I was told the reason I should go with the gravermach at was speed control and I'd be able to do more with it. So if anyone can provide any information I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you |

Re: Lindsay palmcontrol or Grs Gravermach AT and why?
The Lindsay Palm control is the the best bar none. :cheers2[1]
Let's see way less air CO2 consumption, can run 8'hours on 20 oz CO2. All stainless steel, 4 different weight Pistons , don't need collets, been using mine 4 to 8 hrs a day for what humm 10 years, clean once in a while. Never fails all control in your hand or pressure adjustment. Leaves all the rest in the dust. BUY ONE As to the speed control all in the control ring I your hand |

Steve and Dave,
Thanks so much for the information. I'm convinced now that the classic palmcontrol is the right tool for me and I will be ordering one tomorrow. |

A Lindsay Palm control is like drawing in steel, it just becomes an extension of your hand. It is simple and reliable just needs a clean air or Co2 source. You will never regret owning one.

Re: Lindsay palmcontrol or Grs Gravermach AT and why?
Without a doubt the Palmcontrol the BEST in class product (like all Steve's products) ... bought mine 6plus years ago and wouldn't trade it for anything. It truly is an amazing piece of engineering and the craftsmanship is world class ... none better. Additionally, Steve's customer service is second to none. I sold a really nice double gun to acquire mine and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Like the Nike ad says "JUST DO IT" ... you won't regret doing so. |

Re: Lindsay palmcontrol or Grs Gravermach AT and why?
Thanks so much for all the advice guys. I really do appreciate it. Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction as far as a ball vise. I really like the look and weight of the goliath but since I'm going to eventually be using a microscope would the positioning vise from grs be a better way to go? Again thanks for all the info

Re: Lindsay palmcontrol or Grs Gravermach AT and why?
As all engraving that can be done in a ball vise can be done as well or better using a turntable and a vise or other system to hold the work on it, I'd put the investment in a solid turntable and vise to start with. A new engraving stand with built in turntable or a regular turntable and a new Low Profile Turntable Vise would be the most versatile and practical system for both microscope and without.

I use both.
Palm control is more intuitive by miles. You will be very happy. That turntable looks sweet too |

Congrats, that's what I bought and love it. I added a Leica A60 scope to the mix and couldn't be happier.
