Default Book - Scroll and Engraving Techniques, Lynton McKenzie

Pam McKenzie and I have recently compiled a book of techniques and scroll prints made by Lynton McKenzie of his guns and knives. It is a wonderful study guide for understanding and seeing how to fill spaces with beautiful scroll that Lynton is so well known for. The techniques section is written by Lynton himself. Lyntons published work was one of the reasons I started engraving. I finally met him at the FEGA gathering in Reno many years ago. Lynton took the time to talk shop and give some advice to a newbie.
I look forward to receiving this new offering.

I was looking through my books and other stuff the other day, sorting the dreck from the diamonds, and I found a book/catalog that I picked up in New Orleans in 1972 or thereabouts. It is from New Orleans Arms and shows alot of Lynton MCkenzie's work.

I didn't even realize that I'd met and taled with him until I found that book.

Beautiful stuff.

Default Lynton McKenzie Book

I am glad you all had a great time in Reno this year. For some of us getting to this great show is impossible so we do the best we can with teck. manuals. I just got my Mckenzie book on his engraving. I found this book to be a great training book. I have his tapes he made a long time ago and this book just puts everything in place. I have always liked Lynton's work and found this book to be a great addition to my all my books on engraving. It seems Steve's new toys went over great a the show, and why not, they are the best. I received mine today. It's fabulous. The amount of material in this booklet is amazing. I thought that there might be a 'few' samples of McKenzie's work. Actually, it's a LOT. Lot's to learn and analyze as the depictions are very sharp and detailed. This will be food for thought for quite a while.
Thanks for putting all this together!
Rainer

Talking Re: Book - Scroll and Engraving Techniques, Lynton McKenzie

Hello everyone,

I feel like it is my first day back in school. Meeting new people.
I bought an engraver 2 years ago and am having a ball. I am interested in gun stocks and scrolls engraving. Does any one know if there are any video's for beginners?

Thank you in advance.

I'll have to get one of those, Lynton was such a great man and artist and so very good to this young knifemaker! It will be a treasure to many, I am sure.
