Hello Everyone!
Just joined finally this evening. Wanted to say hello to all of you guys and thank you for this forum. I hope to learn a great deal here.
I've always been okay at art, never went to any kind of school for it and unfortunately at this stage in my life I don't and won't have time for school to really delve into this art of engraving. That said, I learn fairly quickly and once I get into something it becomes an obsession until it ain't...I respect this field a great deal, especially because of the fact that there is so little information about it anywhere its almost a secret! Where I live I've done countless search's online trying to figure out how to engrave something other than using a stupid dremmel. Just finding out the name of the tool, a graver, took a lot of time. Hi Sal,
 There is much info on-line that should be helpful. There is some information of hand engraving with a graver on the from page of www.engravingschool.com Also there is a thread that may be helpful: Inexpensive way to give it a try. http://www.engravingforum.com/showthread.php?t=4

Thanks guys.
My apologies for the extremely late reply. Been putting out fires lately, and juggling that with family-preaching to the choir I'm sure.... This is one crazy expensive skill to learn. But you know what? I think that's a good thing because it adds value to what you guys do. If I was single I'd pull the trigger on some good equipment and stop trying to jerry rig things and expect to turn out like sam alfano or something. Its cool, I'm already collecting parts and tools. Goodnight everyone. See ya soon... One more thing, any of you guys going to the art knife invitational in San Diego this month? Its the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month I believe.
