Feet first I jump,I have no work to show you,I wonder how this forum can help me understand the process of Japanese metal artists of old? Does anyone here have any knowledge of their work and processes? I am humbled to be here but my facination beats my embarrassment, please excuse my expedient abruptness, life is too short~A

Hi Ojo no Kami,
There are a few people here that did spend some time with great japanese masters.
I believe Barry is one of them. He has got some very nice posts with pictures of these masters. You would have to look around.
This one is the one I can find to show you the overlay technique.

I also believe Jim Kelso makes very nice art in the japanese style.

Your work is very nice and gives me courage that I have found the right teaching environment. I just went to the store and bought some needle files and cold punches and started hammering away on some copper, I have no idea what I am doing but still have been able to copy a picture that I am not ashamed of for a first go(but definitely not post worthy like yours!) given what direction I want to go as per your reply what advice do you suggest? I want to make Tsuba and Menuki!
