Hip Flask
I just finished this hip flask the poem doesn't come through very well in the photo, it reads in a lord of the rings style font "Get up and dance, get up and smile, get up and drink to the days that are gone in the shortest while - Simon Fowler". The stainless was rather difficult to cut and i found that because the flask was hollow i got a lot of chatter. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you find any way of reducing this?
Thanks, Jason |

Re: Hip Flask
I've never tried to engrave something hollow, but I'd think that filling the flask with something dense would help out a lot. Maybe a finely powdered sand?
It looks really pretty though. :D --- sig goes here |

Re: Hip Flask
Well first beautiful work and as far as the chatter just a thought you could submerge the flask in water till you have no air bubbles and screw the lid on the pressure from the water will give you a solid fill to work with for engraving.

Re: Hip Flask
Try filling it with very cold water, then, as it warms up, it should expand enough to help the chatter.
