Hi all just saying hi.Have been doing scrim for 30yrs for friends and maritime museum but nothing to serious.I use to watch my grandmother do whale teeth when i was young.Just seeing some of the albums make me envious of the quality of work.

Hey trackerscout, welcome ! Can you show us some of your scrim-work ? Just curious, as I 'm making my first attempts on scrim an engraving too. The problem here in Belgium is to find some good (legal) cleaned bone, ivory or tooth material to work with ! A butcher gave me a fresh cow bone last year, but it was a hell of a mess to clean and de-grease it. A very demotivating experience for a 'newbee' scrimmer. Kind regards, Paulsph

Thank you for the good tip, Roger! Scrimshaw-practise on Tagua nuts, at least a good alternative instead of messing up some rare to find 'legal ivory' !! ...However, it seems Tagua nuts are not easy to find over here in Europe.
