Default Hello everyone

Hi,

This is my first post here, i really appreciate that all talented people here share their amazing works.

I would love to engrave, but as is out of budget for now , im trying with scrimshaw following Katherine Plumer`s tutorials, this is the first i made and have another in progress.

Thank you for your kind words, would be great to know your first works. It is allways nice to know there are people learning the same, im working on styrene sheet for now and using an airbrush needle, i just ordered an scriber on ebay, what are you starting with?

Haven't done anything yet, I am trying to be patient so I won't learn any bad habits so to speak.. It's Ulf Brandt that's holding the course by the way, he's a knifemaker from the town I live in. The course has been set for a later date tho, so you might have to wait some more for pictures, but I'll gladly post them.

The technique we will be using is simple, just a needle in a chuck and then doing every dot by hand. And I think we will be using fake ivory (elforyn) to scrimshaw on.

I will make the needle by small HSS metal drills, can't remember the diameter I bought, but I think it's 0,7mm or something like that.

I'm starting with scrap mammoths and a sharpened, hardened, piece of 01 rod. I will pm you some of my first pieces.
