Default A few knives

Here are a few knives I have completed over the summer. The first ones theme is Days Gone By. Slipjoint knives(traditionals) hold some nostalgia, so that influenced the theme. Both the Cowboy and the indian are looking back at memories of their youth, knowing those memories can never be again. The buffalo are gone and the wild west is not as wild any more.

The Galaxy knife was pretty fun, not a lot of skill needed to draw a bunch of circles. I made up for it with the multi colored inlays as well as the entire black area is bulino dotted. I wanted it to be low relief so I went in and dotted it all. That took some time but I felt it would be worth not to have the edges of the high areas show, like when you deeply remove the background.

The other three are just scroll work, one does have red gold incorporated into the design which is a bit different. Anyway, thanks for taking a look. Brian

Great stuff Brian!

I assume the astral scene has copper inlay? Kinda hard to tell whether the toothpick is also red on my screen...

Hi other Brian, all my inlays are colored gold. Early in my career I used copper, but about 3 years ago I quite using it because it adds no value to the knife, plus it tarnishes which I dislike. Once you get used to red gold, it becomes fairly easy to work with. The tooth pick was 18k pink gold. Thanks for kind response. Best regards. Brian

Hi Brian H,
All the knives are admirable, all have different themes.Days gone by is my winner.
Is that a gold inlay on the handle? ( the feather and scroll monogram)

Brian,

What a wonderful cluster of your work!

The astronomical knife is a fitting metaphor of your career to date ... you have wasted no time in getting out into orbit, carving your own swath midst the starry worlds.

Thank you for posting.

Rod

SE, That is a rose gold shield in the handle, the knife maker inlayed it so all i had to do was engrave it.

Jerry, good to hear from you. The surgery must have went well. Yep, we'll see you in Hotlanta

Rod, I love reading your posts, they always have such a poetic style. Thanks.

Thanks all for the kind words. They are nice to hear, after months of self-enslavement. Regards. Brian
