Just wanted to say hello. I am currently in the middle of purchasing tools for engraving. I visited with Ray Cover last evening and indeed he was a great help with information. I would like to give a slight introduction of who I am. I am a full time stockmaker for Dakota Arms and also have a small business by the name of Black Hills Gunstocks. I am a checkering specialist in the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. I dearly enjoy to checker and have done so for many years. I do not intend this to sound like a bragging session, that's not my intension. I have admired those of you that can create such art in steel. I hope I can learn this. I'm looking foreward to the learning process, and to see if I can better myself in the process. I wish to hear from anyone who has good advice for me. Jesse Kaufman

My only bit of advice would be that not to get too hung up on high tech gadgets . Buy any of the pneumatic tools , and some good bits and that's all you need . It's all in that one cubic millimetre in your tip and in your head and hands .

Sent you a message as well, but it's nice to see a fellow South Dakotan on here! There is a lot of gun-related business to be proud of around the Hills, especially Dakota's rifles! Must be nerve wrecking working on some of those stocks, the wood alone is worth more than my nicest rifle!

Thanks Mitch. Yes it can be a bit nerve racking now and again. But over all, it isn't bad at all. I am "livin' the dream." I love my vocation so it is not really work....most of the time anyway.
