I have recently taken the plunge into engraving. Fascinated by the firearms engravers I have long admired I have taken upon the art. Once received my Lindsay templates I went right to work. I show my first pieces by hammer and graver. I know it is very basic from the pieces seen here. I was just very impressed with the results from using the Steve's products.

Hi J Franco,
Welcom to this forum. I admire your attempts to start on a gunn butt straight away. And your results with the hammer and chisle are not bad for a first try. Just keep on practising and your work will grow each hour youll put in to it. |

Not bad ...On your next engraving project; slow yourself down.. Everyone rushes their first cuts in metal, to see what they can achieve... You did come up with a theme to engrave ...Themes that a person likes, goes a long way to keeping a person interest going, but then we hurry to get them cut.. Go slower, get yourself some practice plates and cut away..Hope to see more of your attempts..

http://www.engravingforum.com/images...ree%5B1%5D.gif Thanks for the sound advice. I will go at it slower and more steady. On the butt plate with the spiders on it. I did notice an inconsistency with the hardness of the metal. It made a big difference in ease of making the spiders once I got the template system in use. The upper receiver came out alot better. Will try to post some more stuff in days to come.
