Bulino nude on nickel silver poker chip
Been doing a lot more bulino than scrimshaw lately and wanted to share the latest. 1.5" diameter x 1/8" german silver poker chip made from bar stock. Used a CarbaltXD blank sharpened with the Phil Coogan bulino template. Hope you enjoy.

Re: Bulino nude on nickel silver poker chip
Ron, Really nice work. Beautiful piece.
Over the last couple of years I have done maybe fifty of the card pucks. Generally inlay the "coin" into a stabilized wood disk between 11/2 and 2 inches. Wood about 3/8 or 1/2 inch thick. Done some with antler, some with horn. Some cabs set in a nice bezel. Did one with silver wire inlay. My ex is married to a professional gambler now. He is a retired voc ed teacher same as me gets $2.50 hr to sit in the games. Of course he has a system but earns an extra 25 to 30 grand (Keeps meticulous records)to play Texas Hold'um per year. My ex is also quit good and has one several tournaments. I bought 2 of the plastic fronted aluminum brief case style display cases and she simply carries one of them around the casino's around the Colorado circuit. People ask and see shows them the inventory and sell what sells. She tells me what people like and I work in that area. Several casinos have yearly competitions for the best card pukes. A couple of mine have won. One winner was simply a gold nugget mounted on desert ironwood. I have purchased carved coins and made them into pukes and they are popular. I cut the stabilized wood round then mount in lathe and turn the inset. Anyway the ex thinks bulino and scrim would do real well but I haven't figured a way to protect the image. Most of the gamblers just carry them in their pocket or purse. We do provide a small velvet bag with the purchase. Got any idea's on how to protect them. |

Re: Bulino nude on nickel silver poker chip
Fred, If I understand what your asking correctly the solution is shown with this nickel silver chip. This one is in an Airtite holder that completely protects it. The coin holders come in many dia. and thicknesses. PM if I misunderstood or you have further questions.
