Well folks, I have lurked here for a few years, posted only very rarely,
and today i mustered enough courage to post a photo of one of my practice plates...

I took a 2" copper plumbing pipe, cut a piece off and opened it up hammered it flat, laid out the design and engraved with my Airgraver classic and my roto tool.... i love my leica Microscope ...

I have been working with silver bracelets mostly and copper.

i purchased some gold wire and am looking at buying the Les Schowe - Gold Inlay & Undercut Template so i can explore that realm.

I have always wanted to try engraving but every time i made a list of all the tools i wanted, i was priced out of the project.

i have made knives over the years and jewelry.

I also have a few old rifles that would make good projects when i achive a level of mastery in the art and execution of engraving.

i have 5 sons... my second son was crafty, he was talented as an artist. 2 years ago he died in a drowning incident. cold cold water weakens you quickly ....

as i was pulling my wits together from the devastation, i resolved to follow through on my dream of engraving as a way to honor him and promote healing in my heart and soul. so i put my list together and from some of the earnings from a marine canvas business i do in the summer months I ordered My lindsay Classic with all the trimmings. I have for these last two years, made several sterling bracelets, and rather than sell them i have given them away to loved ones and certain people who have stirred my heart in a way to share the honor to my son.

being half crazy with Attention Deficit Disorder... i have so many things i am involved in but it has become more and more of a focus and as i watch the price on silver fluttering slowly lower, i am finding a heavier need to focus on engraving.

as the chaos on my bench was getting out of hand, i was looking around and discovered some nice old Gerstner tool chests for a great price, so i figure that'll help for the order of things.... i love that quarter sawn Oak wood, but, the used chest will need some TLC to clean it up and re install the felt in the drawers.

Thank you for posting your work and my condolences on the loss of your son. As a cancer survivor, I know that the death of someone close to you can sometimes give us the kick in the butt to do what we have put off (for any number of reasons). It is so very touching that you give your work to friends and relatives. What a great way to honor your son.
