Hey guys,
I haven't had the opportunity to engage in converstation on this forum for awhile. I've been trying to make chips fly as often as possible with this last project. Its been tough with a full time job and my sons football season here, but I finally got her done. I just thought I would share some quick photo's before I start the next project. Thanks for looking. Now its off and running again. Rich ![]() ![]() [IMG] ![]() |

Hi Rich, Wow, this is another nice one from you. I can't tell for sure in the pics but is the gold slightly raised? Have you been on this at work at Browning or is this a private one not connected to Browning? Very good job

Steve,
Thanks for the kind compliments. Yes, all of the gold is raised including the borders. I really enjoy doing raised inlays and I prefer the look of them. Raised inlays really give a three dimensional look. This project was done at home. Browning (In the U.S.) does not do "custom work". This is O.K. with me because engravers all over America can benefit from it.:yesnod: Rich |

Rich, Okay, good on the raised gold. I thought is was either that or you shaded it to make it look 3d.
I saved one of the pics, opened it in photoshop and lowered the levels to darken it some. Not sure if it is better or not. On one computer screen they look to light and the next dark. ![]()

Stunning work Rich. I also really like the gold work you did. It looks exceptionally precise and is just the right amount to enhance the scene.
A pleasure to see it. Thanks, Peter |

Thankyou guys for your compliments. Steve, feel free to do whatever you think may help with enhancing these pictures. I'm really bad at photography. I barely have enough time to scratch metal.

![]() ![]() Wow is that gorgeous! I really like the way the gold borders interlace with the scrolls - which are lovely in and of themselves, by the way. Even in a close view it's a subtle thing but I think it really adds life to the whole piece. |

Rich, This piece really did come out super! You have both a PalmControl and foot control Classic.

Steve,
Thank you again for your kind compliments. To answer your question, I primarily used my palm control. The only time I used my foot control was for setting gold and stippling background. I made a nylon tipped piston for my PC on the shading. It works tramendously! Rich |

Zamora,
Thank you for your compliments. To answer your question, it is just a standrad black indian ink in a bottle. The same stuff that can be found at any art store. I did however spray a clear baking enamel and baked the metal in the oven. This is done as a rust preventative. Rich |
