Finished a knife
Just finished up a knife for a gift, thought i would share it with others here is a photo of it.i think the best thing about giving a gift is they have no clue most of the time that goes into engraving. (but i know) and that makes it worth more than any thing ever store bought.oh and my computer was down and broken for this engraving so its all drawn by hand. i can see quite a few mistakes but it looks ok for a 2 1/2 inch knife.

Re: Finished a knife
I'm doing something similar to a little lockback I picked up for $5.
It's also somewhat rough Need to get it done before Saturday afternoon. The two sides won't match as well as they should because I'm trying out some shading styles. P.S. I traced the bolsters on a piece of paper, drew my design there and transferred it using wax and paper.* *Take another sheet of paper - ideally tracing paper or the baking parchment that works so well for other transfers because they're translucent and it's easier to place the transfer. Lay it over your design and trace the pattern with a soft pencil - make sure you get a nice solid line. If you need the design mirrored then flip the original over and trace from the back. A light box or a window helps with that. Put some wax (I use Museum Wax, Transfer wax is good as well) and lay the tracing face down in place. Burnish lightly and you should have enough of the graphite transfer from the tracing to the wax. Best to scribe over the lines because you'll lose it at a touch. |
