A pair of zips
There is almost 20 years difference in these two pieces of work. Time has taken it's toll, I am still pleased with both.
Have a great day and "Viva the best engraver's hangout on the Internet". P.S>Chris don't let the gush of compliments go to your head. You are improving, but you are only at the beginning of your potential.

Re: A pair of zips
Hello Joseph and very nicely done. Are the animals done in bulino or engraved? I need to start a zippo project as I see that this is a very popular canvas for engravers. It would be nice to have thread where everyone could show off there zippos. Thanks for the photos.......JohnR

Re: A pair of zips
Greetings Folks
When you talk about bulino are you talking about the silver lighter? What is bulino and how does it differ from engraving? Thanks. |

Re: A pair of zips
Hello Tommurphy,
Bulino is another form of engraving. By using thousands of dots and small lines you can create life like animals in more detail than engraving. If you see a shotgun or rifle with animal scenes on them they are most likely bulino. You use a simple hand tool (graver) to make the dots, one dot at a time, verrrry slow process but unbelievable results......JohnR |

Re: A pair of zips
Thank you John for answering the question about bulino.
Which brings me to this question. Could the forum and its members put together a glossary of engraving terms for those who are inexperienced and have vaild questions? Sort of an engravers dictionary.
