I guess that these are something to avoid on those cold Winter mornings ... unless of course you can build a heater into them!!

You're building up a nice little collection of tools there Steve.

All the best to you,

Roger

Thanks Roger.
When the temperature is -30 below, don't place your tongue on these handles.

I just might have to get a Stainless for my Classic.

And yes, it would have to be engraved.

Hi Gail,
you are too sweet.
If one of us would be rich and famous one of us could go to the other so I could show you how to set stone's and you could show me how to engrave!
I really do love your washers!

Daniel

Hi Gail,
I will do the same and see who gets to the other with the winning ticket!
Just don't hope we will cross airplanes on each the other way
What if you buy me a ticket over there and I get you one overhere?
That would spice things up no?
(I never buy these tickets but this seems like it could be funn!)

Oops, way of topic here,
I will get one stainless one to engrave, inlay and set stone's in soon

Daniel

I got my SS handle working on my Classic with my temporary home-made adapter (ThermoLoc, an O-ring, a rubber flap and a little super glue) while I wait for the official one from Steve.

It adds a nice heft to the graver, at least for my big paws. I also put in the Tungsten piston - boy you can feel the difference it makes! It also now has no trouble making the deep, heavy cuts for flare-cut scroll.

At some point I'll be engraving my SS handle but I'll have to let ideas percolate for a bit first.

Hi Steve, I haven't gotten to experimenting making an adapter yet. I bought the materials but it has been busy here since the engrave-in. I'm still playing catch up. Like you mentioned it does actually make a difference as far as power because of the more mass helping to the dead blow effect. I've been recommending them to anyone with a PC, and will also to the foot control classic as I get the adapters figured out.

The basic adapter is pretty simple - you could make one from a rubber stopper. You 'just' need to be able to turn it down to fit the hole in the SS handle and then drill a hole for the cylinder of the Classic without quite going through the top (it's that rubber 'cap' over the cylinder that makes it work).

Casting would probably be much easier and I'm sure it would be more mass producible. You just need to make a mold with a central cylinder matching the Classic's inside an outer cylinder matching the hole in the handle with the outer cylinder being about 1/16" taller so you get the smooth sealing layer across the top of the Classic's cylinder.

Hi,

When I got my classic I had Steve machine it for a palm control which is machining 2 L grooves in the body of the classic.

The adaptor he made for me used the machined grooves (for the palm control) and was a cap that was custom fit for the classic (foot control).

I was going to make a custom handle for the classic until I ordered my P.C. (hopefully soon).

These were made before the P.C. was out I think and were used on the custom wood handles made for the classic foot control.

This would work great for a SS Handle for the Classic but it takes time to make them and maybe they have to be custom fit to your classic???

The machining and the cap were a bit over $150.00 as I remember.

Big advantage is your classic Foot Control is ready for the P.C. and some of the price comes off the P.C price since it is needed for the P.C. to fit the non P.C. Classic.

So it seem it is a win win for a reasonable fee and now with the SS Handle a great upgrade.

I tried the "hefty" handle (stainless) at Scott's Engrave-In and was really impressed with the feel. The extra mass seems to help with a more steady and easy push and was really smooth to operate. I'll be ordering some more stuff when I return from Ukraine.
