Newbie question

Hi,
I have a youth group and we go camping every year. The kids compete at the camp so we have some medals for them in cooper.
They are pretty much flat cooper piece about 1" x 2".
I am looking for an engraver that most people in US knows the store "Things Remember" using to engrave names, etc ...
What kind of engraver is that?

Most of the kiosk type engravers use some form of Pantograph. See Roger's amazing Engraving Glossary for information here

You can get a simple 'diamond drag' one from places like Rio Grande or FDJ Tools for not too much (depending on your defintion of 'too much', of course ).

Nicer ones have a powered rotary bit that carves the line into the metal.

The ones that Things Remembered uses now are computer controlled. During their switch over there were a ton of really nice 'manual' ones just being dumped, or so I've been told - missed out on that myself.

Cost wise I believe you are in the $20,000. to $40,000. range depending on features.

Used manual models are a few hundred bucks.
