Default Hillbender Dollar

I don't think I've posted any of my work on this site yet, but this is an 1891-S Dollar that I'm almost ready to sign. The Hillbenders are a bluegrass group out of Springfield, MO. They're really good too. I spent way too much time on this piece.

This is outstanding! Can't begin to imagine all the tools you had to make to do such a detailed work of art too. What a beauty

Mostly just a few simple tools. I use primarily one tool for most of the roughing out and carving the background. It's just a wide flat graver that's slightly rounded to about the same curvature as the background. Besides that, a standard square, and a very small flat graver. To smooth out the chisel marks, I use Gesswein stones. To get into small areas, I sharpen the stones to a point using a 360 grit diamond hone. I also use a very small double ended scribe to sort of pick and burnish in small details.

The biggest change in my tool belt has been the recent addition of the Lindsay palm control. Mucho Kudos to Steve for this amazing invention.

Thank you all for your nice comments.
