Remembering Our 9-11 Heros
Has anyone else done a piece to commemorate the tragedy of September 11, 2001?
As I watched the events unfold on that faithful morning, one image was striking in it's dichotomy. The scene was a Manhattan street with the twin towers burning in the background. On one side of the street was a terrified mob dressed in business clothes and running away from the disaster as fast as possible. On the other side of the street was what seemed to be an endless procession of Firefighters dressed in their turnout gear and marching steadfastly toward the turmoil. |

Re: Remembering Our 9-11 Heros
Wow, very nice work, Rick I 'm not living in the USA but I 'll surely remember that horrible day for the rest of my life! I heard it on the radio when initially 'there was a little aircraft' that accidentally had hit the Twin towers, ...one hour later they were speaking of a big airplane (than I thought: that's NOT normal!) so I switched the TV on and there it was: the big disaster on every European channel in the many 'extra news' bulletins. We were shocked over here as well, it was an attack on the free world for all of us and indeed the world changed from that moment in time. Hopefully, such an event will never happen again! With that beautiful knife you do great honor to all the brave firefighters who risked their lives. Greetings Paulsph

Re: Remembering Our 9-11 Heros
Ten days before the 11th September 2001 I was in NY in my summer holidays with my family, my wife and my little son, he had 6 years old.
In that trip we visit the most important sites of the city, and of course including the Twin Towers. When we was at north tower I remember my little son had hunger, and we bought for him a piece of pizza. It's very curios, but I have this people working in the towers very present. After we returned to Spain, in September 11th a friend called me saying one of the towers was on fire. I was in the towers only ten days before and in these moments I could not believe what he was saying. After that I turned on the TV and I could not believe what I saw. There was an attack to all the free world, not only to US people, and I experienced that day like I'm one US citizen more. The knife is very impressive, the symbol of the liberty and the firefighter shocked. Nice work, congratulations. I'm a knife collector and I appreciate a lot this kind of work. Thank you Rick for share! Carlos |
